Black Cuckoo-shrike (Campephaga flava)
Sex; female-plumage (immature cannot be ruled out). Age; adult-immature. Subspecies; apparently none. Udzungwa Mts, July 2007. Copyright@; Louis A. Hansen. On a distance the male seems entirely draped in blackish colour however, close views reveals a glossy-black plumage. Some males have a bright yellow shoulder (upper wing coverts) patch. The picture shows a bird as it is often seen high up (just below the dense canopy) in an upright posture on a branch looking for prey.
