Crimsonwing sp. (Cryptospiza sp.)

Sex; Female-like. Age; immature (spotted gaps). Udzungwa Mts, July 2007. Copyright@; Louis A. Hansen. The species is too dark to fit the Red-faced Crimsonwing (C. reichenovii). The bird was ringed and released (the ring can be seen on the right leg, bird was ringed some days before the photo was taken - always a pleasure to see ones ringed birds in the field too). With only very limited amount of red. The facial patch is almost none existing but instead confined to an eye ring. Work is in progress.
